I'm guessing that I will probably lose the edits and tagging that I have done. Lightroom may be your best solution but that will depend on whether you can work with the Adobe's subscription model. Question is, what program should I move them all to, and how do i do it? I also have a good amount of photos in Aperture, and some still in Lightroom. So I never transitioned from iPhoto to the Photos app. Why not? Does your current hardware not support Sierra or High Sierra? I never upgraded beyond El Capitan i think, have you considered goign through them and culling before you migrate systems and software? Currently I have over 10,000 photos in iPhoto. I could use some help with my photo collections. I'm not sure some current stuff will work well on very old hardware or systems. Tell us what hardware you use, whether you do raw and what your normal workflow is, and what system you are on now. If you want specific suggestions, more details about how you wanna manage your images, share them, adjust them and what you've done with what you already have might help folks give more targeted advice, otherwise it just becomes lots of us jabbering about what we like best for ourselves. There are a million threads here about the relative merits of Lr, Photos and other alternatives.
